After breakfast on the ship, we will visit the well-preserved Ptolemaic Temple of Horus at Edfu, which is one of the most well-preserved temples in Egypt.
After that, we’ll get back on the ship, and sail to Luxor. Our first stop in Luxor will be the Karnak Temples, the largest place of worship ever built. Its ancient name Ipet-isut means “the most sacred of places.” The temple, or, more correctly, the complex of temples, was built over more than 2,000 years by generation after generation of pharaohs. Within the complex, we will find the great “Hypostyle Hall,” which is an incredible forest of giant pillars.
Our third stop in will be Luxor Temple which was built by Amenhotep III and Ramses II for ritual and festivals dedicated to the god Amen.
At night, we’ll have another optional sound and light show at the Temples of Karnak, which highlights the dramatic history of ancient Thebes.
